Botanical Description

Grand herb of the Cyperaceae family (Monocotyledonous) which can reach 6 m high;, undergroung stem very developed, bare stem with a bundle  of terminal  spherical inflorescence of  10 -45 cm long, loose spike of 1-2 cm long of 30 linear  spikelet of 6-10 mm long.

Medicinal Use

used as ingrendient of medical recipes, whike the paper produced from cyperus papyrus functioned as bandages or a  blistering plaster. Fragrance, suubstitut of incense.

 

Other Use

 In Rwanda they use cyperus papyrus for theFabrication of paper, and various  artisanal objects. In ancient Egypt, cyperus was used for various of purposes such as baskets, sandals, blanket, medicine, incence, and boats. The woody root was used to make bowls and utensils, and was burned for fuel.
