Botanical Description
Shrub of 3-6 m of height with abundant latex. The ramifications are from the base of the tree. The young branches are green cylindric and fleshy. The leaves are simple, alternate and fleshy. The central nervure are often red tinted. Axillary cymose Inflorescence of umbel form made up of cyathiums.
Medicinal Use
The milky latex is irritant to the skin. The dried leaves powdered is applied to the cuts made in the skin to relieve pain in cases of severe backache, or swelling of joints,or the burned ash may be taken to cure sor throat. The milky latex can be applied to swelling on cattle to soften the boils , and hence release the pus.
