Geographic Distribution:Everywhere in Rwanda up to 1800 m above sea level.

Botanical Description

A bushy shrub achieving a height of 3 – 5  m when let in the nature. Top branches are glabrous and  square shaped. Leaves emitting a strong odor while  crashed . Petioles of 3-7 cm long. Leaf cordate at the base, oval to sub rounded of 8-12 cm long and 8 – 10 cm wide. Inflorescences are leafed terminal pyramidal panicle  of 30 cm long. Sessile to subsessile white flowers.

 

Medicinal Use

Has bactericide and bacteriostatic properties , umuravumbone alicaloide and other procucts non yet described. It’s a miracle  shrub, it cures many diseases.

Leaves and roots are used to produce multiple medicines and to cure desaeses and ailments, such as:  gonorrhea, diarrhea. tooth diseases, malaria, angina pectoris, yaws, women infertility,  intestinal worms.s

The foliage is characterized to having a pleasant smells. The fresh leaves are crushed , mixed with cold water and the mixture given to chicKens as medicine. The roots boiled or chewed, are used for bilharzias, indigestuin, pneumonia, and rheumatism. The leaves are used as an emetic. NShigarije Daniel uses Iboza riparia leaves preparations in the treatment of Trichomonas vaginalis and skin dryness.This plant is used by many TMP and involved in the treatment of infections by Kayiranga Mussa, cough and other upper respiratory diseases by Nzanzimana Azzarias, stomac dieases by Gapasi Serushago.
