Tymus vulgaris commonly called thyme, or common thyme ,is generally upright, woody based perennial which is primarly grown as  culnariy herb in herb gardens. Numerous somewhat woody stems grow upward to form a foliage mound  70 cm.

            There is an organic compound isolated from the essential oil of Thymus vuulgaris nnamed thymine. It is a terpene.
