Botanical Description

Mentha aquatica is a perennial growing to 1m  tall.   lt produces  an underground stem. The leaves are lighter green.It is an aromatic herb with square stems.

 

Medicinal Use

A tea made from leaves has traditionally been used in the treatment of fevers, headaches, digestive disorders and various minor ailments. It is also used as mouth wash and a gargle for treating sore throat, ulcers, bad breath.

 

Other Use

The leaves are used as a pot herb and as a source of essential oils.  These oils                               are used to give the mint flavor in chewing gum, toothpaste, confectionery, medicine, etc.They arealso used for flavoring the sauces, jellies, and candyleaves
