Botanical Description

Perennial herb with basal rosette. Leaves linear , dark green, 25-90 cm long and 0.6- 1.3 cm wide. Inflorescence ( peduncle and rac eme) up to 30-120 cm tall, raceme with flower dense, up to 6-35 cm long, bracts lanceolate, acuminate. Flower iellow to orange, buds usually red , pendulous, cylindrical 2.3-4 cm long, tepals almost fused, lobes not exceeding 0.2-0.3 cm length, stamens and style shortly exserted. Fruit a capsule up to 0.5 cm in diameter.

 

 

Medicinal Use

The powdered root is mixed with food to treat infertility in women.
