Botanical Description

Acacia pycnantha is a fast growing , nitrogen fixing shrub or small tree, which can be grown on recharge sites. It hhas a clusters of fragrant golden yellow flowers, widely cultivated as an erect small tree to 8 m tall, usually with a rough  brown  to black bark. Leaves are large, lance –shaped and bight green, flowers are contained within yellow balls, appearing in winter and spring.. Long straight, brown pod to 12 cm long and 7 mm wide.

Medicinal Use

The tannin exsuded by the bark, is used in tanning. Acacia pycnantha or Australian acacias, All parts ot the Acacias plant : wood, bark, gum, flowers, pods, seeds and roots were used for a myriad or everyday perposes.

 

Other Use

The extracted tannin is largely used for tanning leather, but also can be used for  making adhesi and as pharmaceutical produc es,     preserving ropes and nets, making dyestuffs, corrosion inhibitor.
