Botanical Description

Perennial herb, erect or decumbent,  up to 1 m high. Leaves alternate, broadly elliptic to lanceolate. Flowers in congested or lax racemes. Pedicels, up to o.5 cm long. Corolla pink, up to 0,2-0.3 cm long.

 

Medicinal Use

Leaf juice as a remedy for hepatic diseases. In Rwanda Lysimachia ruhmeriana is an important medicinal plant. The roots are used against tapeworms and madness, they are furthermore used  to treat poisoning, snakebites, hepatitis, sanies blebs, sciatica and kwashiorchor.
