Botanical Description

Perennial herb,stems decumbent to asceding, quadrangular, much branched, up to 30-60 cm long, sparsely to densely hairy at the angles. Leaves opposite sessile or with short prtiole up to 0.1cm long stipule-sheath0.4-0.6 cm long , with 5-9  fimbriae, up to 0.7-0.8 cmlong, lamina elliptic to ovate, 12-6.5 cm long and 0.3-3 cm wide, venation impressed , appearanceplicateor bullate. Inflorescence with few to man flowers in axillary cymes. Flowers white,corolla-tube up to 0.6-1 cm long, 4 oblong or elliptic lobes0.3-0.4 cm long. Fruit an elongate-oblong capsule, up to 0.6 cm long.

 

Medicinal Use

In Rwanda, the leaves are used to treat sprains,, furuncles, Saniesbleds.
