Dombeya gotzenii is a tree up to 20 m high. Young branches with lepidote-stellate, hairs, soon glabrescent. Leaves alternate, densely stellate- pubescent, petiole up to 6 cm long, stipules linear- lanceolate, caduceus, lamina ovate- oblong, apex acuminate, base deeply cordate, 4-13 cm long and 2.5- 7.5 cm wide. Inflorescence an axillary cyme appearing umbel-like, pendulous. Flower white, petals up to 1.4 -1.7 cm long. Fruit a capsule up to 1 cm in diameter. The flowers produce good nectar and they are useful for bees.
A decoction of the bark is taken to treat indigestion especially after a large meal of meat.
Timber for construction. They say that the wood is suitable for flooring, ship and boat building, handles and ladders, agricultural implements, poles and piles. Firewood.
