Botanical Description
Bushy shrub of 1- 3 m tall, which loses each year its ultime ramifications , pubescent tetragonal branches, very often unarmed scrambling evergreen shrub, Petiolated opposite simple leaves; cordate oval lamina ( leaf blade), acute at the leaf apex, crenellated margins of 2.5-8 cm long, very glabrous at the superior face, densely pubescent at the inferior face. Medicinal Use
In venezuella Lantana trifoliia has been traditionally used as an anti-inflammatory medicinal plant, and has an analgesic properties. The crushed leaves are mixed in hot water and drunk to treat rheumatism and indigestion. It was also said that the leaves are used to treat cold and ringworms. In Rwanda it is used against intestinal worms. In East Africa, crushed leaves mixed with water, drinken cures rheumatism. The plant is also used as a cure for the white growth in the eye. Leaf decoction is also used for hepatic disease.
