Botanical Description

Impatiens burtonii is a perennial herb, glabrous or pubescent, stems prostrate, ascending to erect, up  to40-200 cm tall. Leaves , alternate, petiole 0.4-5 cm long, lamina ovate to ovate-oblong, acuminate to apex, rounded to subtruncate at base, margin denticulate or crenulate, 0.9-14 cm long and 0.6-6 cm wide. Flowers in axillary fascicles of 1-3, white or pale pink, up to 2.5 cm long, spur filform,, straight or slightly curved, up to o.5-2.3 cm long. Capsule up to 2.3 cm long.

Medicinal Use

In Northern Rwanda, it is used to treat rash. In Western Province of Rwanda, is is used to treat abdominal benign tumors (Mitari E).  In RD Congo is noted that the leaves are used to dress sores, and the flowers are sought out by bees.
