Botanical Description

Kalanchoe integra is a perennial succulent herb up to 1.5 m tall. Branched, erect, stout stem. The leaves are simple, opposite, succulent, spathulateoblong or spathulate, crenate, crenateserrate, obtuse 8x 2 cm , petiole 25 cm longue. Inflorescence axillary  corymbose or paniculate. Flowers erect, large bisexual tetramerous. Yellow flowers. The fruits are follicles. It is grown in wet area.

 

 

Medicinal Use

Kalanchoe integra has shown various pharmacological activities such as anthelmintic, immunosuppressive, wound healing, hepatoprotective, antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, nephroprotective, antioxidant, antimicrobial , analgesic,  anticonvulsant, and antipyretic activities. Warmed leafsap is a common treatment  for ear ache.

 

Other Use

In Eastern provinc of Rwanda macerations of Kalanchoe rolfsii leaves are used to treat poisoning (Ayikamiye Sarah, Kirehe district)
